More Than 1,000 Schools Competed in Cartridge World Contest
SPRING GROVE, IL--(Marketwire - April 30, 2012) - Three schools accepted $15,000 from Cartridge World as winners of a recent national contest to receive technology funding. Chattahoochee Elementary School in Duluth, Ga., J. Harold Van Zant Elementary School in Marlton, N.J., and Manhattan Catholic School in Manhattan, Kan. were each presented a check by their local Cartridge World store during celebrations at the schools.
More than 1,000 schools in the United States and Canada participated in the "Save Vote Win" contest hosted by Cartridge World to win a cash prize of $15,000 toward the use of technology or other school equipment. The contest received an overwhelming response, and nearly 100,000 votes were cast for the schools.
"Community involvement is an important part of our DNA at Cartridge World," said Frank Case, President of Cartridge World North America. "Our 'Save Vote Win' promotion can make a big impact on a school's technology program. This is especially important when so many schools are facing budget cuts. Cartridge World also provides ongoing support to local schools by offering printer cartridge recycling programs to raise funds. Plus, we have a free printer loaner program schools can take advantage of."
The winning schools may use the $15,000 cash prize toward computer purchases, technology and any other needed equipment. J. Harold Van Zant Elementary School and Manhattan Catholic School have expressed interest in using the money toward the purchase of state-of-the-art "Smart Boards," which use a projector to display a computer's video output on the board and allow for touch screen interaction in the classroom. Chattahoochee Elementary School plans to use the funds to add cameras for safety and security, as well as technology components to help stimulate student engagement and increase student achievement.
