Russell Indexes: Asia Outperformed Europe, Underperformed US in First Half 2012; All Global Regions Positive

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - July 4, 2012) - The Russell Developed Asia Pacific Index returned +4.6% in the first half of 2012, relative to a +3.4% return for the Russell Developed Europe Index and a +9.3% return for the Russell 1000® Index of U.S. large cap stocks.
The Philippines was the top performing country within the Russell Asia Pacific Index for the first half of 2012 with a return of 26.8%, followed by Thailand (+17.1%) and Singapore (+15.3%). Indonesia had the worst performance within the Index in the first half at (-1.0%), followed by China (+3.0%) and Japan (+3.1%).
Within the Russell Asia Pacific Index, the Financial Services sector led the first half, with a +10.7% return, followed by the Consumer Staples (+8.8%) and Health Care (+8.2%) sectors. The Materials & Processing sector was at the bottom of the Russell Asia Pacific Index in the first half at (-5.1%).
