As Canada's elite athletes ready for an exciting new chapter, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Pfizer Canada are honouring Canada's Paralympic athletes with a free, inspirational e-book.
Parents, teachers and families can download Kids of Action, a free online book dedicated to Canada's Summer Paralympic team. Audio formats of the book and e-book versions are now available online at morethanmedication.ca and through a link at paralympic.ca.
Created by Vancouver-based, award-winning author and former school teacher, Cynthia Pratt Nicolson, the stories honour Canada's most inspiring athletes by showing how their unwavering belief in themselves can encourage us all to reach for our dreams.
Courage in Action
"This e-book reminds us that action is the critical element that energizes dreams. Kids of Action illustrates that while it takes courage and tremendous perseverance to achieve your goals, anything is possible when you truly believe," says Henry Storgaard, CEO, Canadian Paralympic Committee. Storgaard says the book is the perfect way to celebrate August 2012 and will also leave a lasting legacy. "Kids of Action is a meaningful gift from Pfizer Canada, the CPC's longest-standing Canadian sponsor, that will help encourage young Canadian athletes for years to come," he says.
In addition to making free downloads of the e-book and audio book available to Canadian parents, teachers and families, special Braille editions of the book are also available for educators.
"Canada's Paralympic Athletes of all ages teach us all about living a healthy, inspired and positive life ... no matter what," says Rhonda O'Gallagher, Executive Director, Corporate Communications at Pfizer Canada. "Their stories have been inspiring Pfizer for more than 16 years and this little e-book is Pfizer Canada's way of sharing that powerful perspective with Canadian families."
The e-book, audio book and Paralympic partnership are all part of Pfizer Canada's More Than Medication™ Initiative. More Than Medication is devoted to empowering Canadian families to take an active role in their health through partnerships, community support and free wellness tools. More Than Medication programs are part of Pfizer's commitment to giving back.
