Echoer Launches Worldwide to Bring Places to LifeAPR 26, 2012 - 09:01 ET
Award Winning iPhone App Lets Users Easily Discover What's Going on Around Them, and What Other People Think About It in Real Time
MONTREAL--(Marketwire - April 26, 2012) - Echoer (http://echoer.com), an app that makes it easy to see what other people are thinking and experiencing in the places around them, today launches worldwide. Echoer is now available for the iPhone and iPad from the Apple App Store as well as via the company's website http://echoer.com.
Echoer makes it easy for users to see the most relevant thoughts, events and discoveries around them; elevating the most recent and popular content above the noise. The app was designed to easily let users make an instant contribution by either adding personal thoughts or amplifying others.
"We came up with Echoer after finding there was no way to quickly cut through the noise on other social media. It simply wasn't possible to see what other people in your immediate environment were thinking. Echoer makes this possible in an intuitive and interactive way, letting anyone see and engage in the hyper-local conversation; finding out what real people are experiencing in the places and events near you," said Daniel Cowen, co-founder and CEO, Echoer.
The visually stunning and clever design of Echoer makes it very quick and easy to find out relevant, timely, and popular recommendations, opinions about local restaurants, bars, gigs and events. Echoer displays the most relevant thoughts, or 'echoes,' on a map. With a simple tap of the screen you can interact with a particular echo, or enter a place and see a living infographic of the echoes in there.
"Echoer is a beautiful and playful solution that lets you to explore your surroundings, and add your voice," said Cowen. "We've also developed functionality that allows us to work with local companies, places and events to add their own Echo Spaces, and customize their own spaces, and have been successfully trialling this in beta with Canadian partners."
In Canada, where the app has been available in beta since February this year, Echoer has already partnered with several leading companies and institutions. The Montreal Museum of Modern Art and the JavaU coffee franchise have already adopted the app to develop their business proposition of providing tools for real-time, in venue, engagement and response. In the US, Echoer will also support the development of content through similar partnerships, promotions and outreach to businesses and influencers in major metropolitan areas.
The Echoer team has extensive experience developing smartphone apps -- a year ago the team released the 'Last Night Never Happened' app, which went on to feature prominently on TV and other media, reaching the top social media app spot in international markets. The design and concept behind Echoer has already won accolades, with Echoer winning the influential LeWeb 2011 Google People's Choice Award, and being selected as a finalist in the Flurry App Spotlight Awards at SXSW.
