Nearly 1 in 5 Smartphones and Tablets Have Storm8 Games Installed
REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - May 7, 2012) - Storm8, the mobile social gaming leader, announced today that it has surpassed more than 100 million mobile devices in its private network, estimating that nearly 20 percent of iOS and Android users have played a Storm8 game. It also announced that its total number of downloads has reached well over 300 million. With demand rapidly accelerating, Storm8 aims to double its staff by the year's end.
"In 2012 we're going to take our growth to the next level," said Perry Tam, CEO of Storm8. "Looking at the opportunities in front of us, we've set new, more aggressive hiring targets and plan to double our present headcount to 240 employees by the end of year. One of the advantages of growing from profit is that we don't need to wait for funding to expand. We just keep hiring great people, building our audience and making amazing new games as fast as we can."
Founded in 2009, Storm8, along with its TeamLava and FireMocha brands, quickly created one of the world's most popular catalogs of free-to-play mobile games. At the same time it built what is now a massive worldwide network of players who team up to defeat their enemies in popular mid-core MMOs like World War and iMobsters, or collaborate on more casual titles such as Farm Story and Pet Shop Story from TeamLava.
"Our goal has always been to move fast, execute well and make our players happy, and I think our numbers show we've done just that," said Tam. "In three years we've launched 30 games, expanded onto every major mobile platform and cultivated a huge audience of users who like what we're doing and keep coming back for more."
Fueled by irresistible gameplay and its dedicated fans, Storm8's games consistently race to the top of the mobile platform rankings. Among Storm8's milestones:
