BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - June 29, 2012) - SendGrid today announced record growth for the first six months of the year, adding 20,000 new customers to bring its total customer count to 60,000. Notable customer additions include Pinterest, Tumblr, Pandora, HP Cloud Services, RockMelt, Booking.com, Minted and Airtime.
SendGrid's growth caps an exceptional six months in which it has increased its customer base by 50 percent and employee headcount by 70 percent. SendGrid now counts more than 100 employees and has added operations in San Francisco, New York, Anaheim and Germany. SendGrid received $21 million in Series B funding in January 2012, bringing its total investment to date to over $27 million.
Fueled by strong market demand, international expansion and continued investment in product and customer support, SendGrid's growth is unrivaled in the email services space. According to a survey released by SendGrid today, web applications are sending an average of 631,000 emails per month, and nearly 50 percent of user actions in web applications trigger an email alert. SendGrid makes the management of triggered email, which includes signups, password changes, check-ins, notifications and friend of follower requests, dead simple for web applications. More importantly for application stickiness, customer retention and customer acquisition, SendGrid helps make sure that app-triggered email reaches the inbox.
Additional significant milestones reported by SendGrid today:
"Our pace of growth over the first half of 2012 reflects our intense focus on customer service, product support and putting our customers' needs ahead of our own," said Jim Franklin, CEO, SendGrid. "We look forward to continued customer commitment in the latter half of 2012 as we expand our product offerings and our geographic footprint to meet global demand."
